Publication Ethics

To ensure the quality of manuscripts and to prevent publication misconduct such as plagiarism, JIKEN: Jurnal Ilmu Kesehatan Nusantara implements Publication Ethics based on the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). These ethical standards apply to authors, editors, reviewers, and journal managers.


1. Author Ethics

  • Originality: Submitted manuscripts must be original, not plagiarized, and not under review or previously published elsewhere.

  • Honest Reporting: Authors must present their research or community service activities accurately, clearly, and transparently.

  • Proper Citation: All references must be appropriately cited and attributed to their original sources.

  • Error Correction: Authors are required to notify the editorial team if significant errors are found in the manuscript and submit corrections.

  • Conflict of Interest: Any potential conflicts of interest must be clearly disclosed.

  • Human/Animal Subjects: Any potential hazards involving chemical, procedural, or subject-related risks must be explicitly stated in the manuscript.

2. Editor Ethics

  • Fair Decisions: Editors must evaluate manuscripts objectively, fairly, and without bias.

  • Transparency: Clear author guidelines and editorial policies must be accessible in both print and online formats.

  • Reviewer Assignment: Editors must assign appropriate reviewers and ensure effective communication throughout the review process.

  • Confidentiality: Editors must protect the confidentiality of all submitted materials and author information.

  • Conflict of Interest: Editors must avoid any potential conflicts of interest during the editorial process.

3. Reviewer Ethics

  • Objective Review: Reviewers must assess manuscripts honestly, professionally, and without discrimination.

  • Reference Evaluation: Reviewers must verify the accuracy and relevance of cited references and report any discrepancies.

  • Timely Feedback: Reviews must be completed within the agreed timeline. Delays should be communicated to the editorial team.

  • Conflict of Interest: Reviewers must disclose any conflicts of interest that could affect their objectivity.

4. Journal Manager Ethics

  • Policy and Decision-Making: Journal managers must ensure that all decisions are made ethically and free from personal interest.

  • Professional Freedom: Editors and reviewers should be supported in working independently in a professional environment.

  • Copyright and Promotion: Journal managers must protect authors' intellectual property and promote published works responsibly.

  • Transparency and Integrity: Financial management and journal operations must be transparent. Conflicts of interest must be avoided to maintain publication integrity.
